Purpose

Devotion

Who, then, is the man that fears the Lord? He will instruct him in the way chosen for him. He will spend his days in prosperity, and his descendants will inherit the land. The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them. (Psalm 25:12-14 NIV)

God created you for a purpose. It is the “way chosen” for you. You will glorify God most and be most fulfilled when you’re living according to God’s purpose for your life. Living on purpose leads to prosperity and a heritage for posterity. The way to discover the direction to your destiny is to “fear the Lord.” Fearing the Lord is the attitude that says, “He is God; I am not. What He says goes!” It’s maintaining the proper Creator/creature, Master/servant, Father/child relationship with Him.

This type of relationship with God comes from avoiding what His word says to avoid and doing what His word says to do, understanding that He loves you, and knows what’s best for you. The promise for living this way is that the Lord will confide in you as one confides in a friend. “He makes His covenant known” to you. That is, He shows you how you fit into His marvelous plan. He shows you the “way chosen for” you. No wonder “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Proverbs 9:10).
